For home computers we normally advise that the life expectancy of a PC or laptop is around 5 years. If the machine is used primarily for business purposes then we recommend a 3 year life-cycle. Computers and laptops will often last much longer than this. If a computer is still working and it is over 5 years old then there is no problem with keeping it for as long as it works. However, the only thing we would suggest in this case is that you take a regular backup of your data, otherwise it may fail one day and you could lose any data that is not backed up.
Custom built computers
We can provide custom built computers at affordable prices in order to replace your old equipment with lightening fast cutting edge technology. With a custom built PC you can ensure that you are only paying for what you need and also you can spend your money wisely. For example, if you want a really fast computer but you don’t really store much information on it, then it makes sense to have a small storage drive but a fast processor. Equally, if you use your computer for storing and processing photographs then it would make sense to have a very large hard drive as well as a good backup solution with the computer.
We always recommend the use of SSDs (Solid State Drives) in all of our new-builds as they offer a far greater performance over traditional hard drives whilst the cost difference is no longer substantial.
Off the shelf laptops and computers
As well as building custom computers we also supply branded computers and laptops. We have relationships with many different computer manufacturers although we normally recommend Fujitsu as being one of the better providers seeing as they are very well made, affordably priced and often come with longer warranty periods than other makes.
We can supply you directly with a branded computer or we can simply advise you on the best option to go for and you can then go and purchase the computer yourself from a local PC World or similar store.
Regardless of whether we supply your new computer, or you purchase it yourself, we are always happy to come and set it up for you – and this would typically include the following:
- Un-boxing and physically installing the new computer
- Performing the initial software setup of the computer
- Transferring the data from your old computer to the new one
- Setting up your printer to work with the new computer or laptop
- Providing some instructions or tuition on how to use your new computer
I tried the machine tonight and it’s clearly muck quicker. The software starts up a lot quicker and seems a bit more responsive too. All other things I tried no longer had the pause from before so it’s really good.
Thank you so much for your help in solving our computer problems. It is a pleasure to recommend your efficiency and helpfulness. Two ‘oldies’ are so grateful that we now have somebody to consult to sort out our computer problems. Thank you!

When our ELDERLY computer would not start we decided to contact Qwerty IT Services in the hope that it could be saved and all its files. The fact that David would come to the house was a bonus. I was impressed with the quiet, efficient and friendly manner in which David listened to the problems I was having with my Computer. After carefully examining the various options available David accepted my decision to purchase a new Computer (My current Unit was passed it’s best) and arranged for a new Computer to be purchased and set-up to my requirements, including the transfer of all pertinent information from the old machine.
