Windows 11 Upgrades
Windows 7 and Windows 10 have both been fantastic operating systems. They provided a great leaps in functionality from their major predecessors – Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Although many users have grown to love Windows 7 and are perhaps reluctant to move away from the operating system, it is now becoming an important move to make, especially seeing as support for Windows 7 ended completely in January 2020.
In addition, Windows 10 is now being replaced by Windows 11.
What will happen when Windows 7 support stops?
When Microsoft officially stop supporting Windows 7 there may not be any immediately visible effects, but there are some serious implications.
The main one being that Microsoft will no longer release security updates for Windows 7 – this means that as new vulnerabilities are discovered hackers will be able to take full advantage of them, knowing that Microsoft will not “close the security holes”.
In addition, as we move past the end of life date for Windows 7, other software providers are likely to stop supporting the operating system, which means that programs such as antivirus apps, web browsers and other software will potentially stop working with Windows 7 (We have seen the same thing happen to many programs on Windows XP and Windows Vista).
Should I upgrade to Windows 11?
The logical move is to upgrade your computer to Windows 11. However, there are some considerations to make here as well, in order to determine whether or not an upgrade is viable.
There are lots of factors to consider including the cost of the upgrade, the age of your computer, the hardware specifications and whether or not your computer will be capable of running Windows 11.
