In light of the recent COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and the UK-wide lock-down many businesses, both small and large, have had to change the way they are working.
In response to this, we have also modified our operating procedures and the IT support services that we are providing to small and medium-sized businesses throughout the UK.
In particular, we are now providing Zero-contact IT support services to businesses in Perth and surrounding areas. As well as providing zero contact, COVID-19 safe, IT Support services in Perth we also provide the same level of support to clients throughout the UK.
Remote IT Support using Teamviewer
We typically use a program called Teamviewer for remotely accessing computers, laptops and servers in order to provide support remotely.
Teamviewer is very easy to install – we can talk you through this step by step over the phone – and once it has been installed once, we can configure it to allow persistent access to your IT systems.
With Teamviewer installed we can log in to any of your computers and see everything that you can see on the device itself, as well as being able to control both the mouse and keyboard remotely.
We are used to providing support via this channel so it is nothing new to us, however, it does come in very handy during this time.
Security Concerns with Remote Access Software
As always, security is our main focus when providing business IT support. Understandably, you as a business owner will likely be concerned about security as well.
Rest assured Teamviewer is very secure by default, offering the following security measures as standard:
- Data and Program Encryption
- Trusted Device Challenge and Confirmation Process
- Enforced Password Reset on Unusual Activity
- File Transfer and Invisible Access Protection
In addition to these measures, we have also taken additional steps to ensure the safety and security of all devices that we manage remotely.
In particular, we restrict access to every device that we manage at an account level. This means access is only permitted by a remote device logged in to our Teamviewer account.
In turn, our Teamviewer account is protected by two-factor authentication meaning that even with the username and password, a code must still be generated and sent to one of our mobile devices, every time we log in. This helps to minimize the risk of having remote access available on any particular device.
Remote Support for all of Your Staff, Regardless of Physical Location
The best part about our remote support service is that we can easily and convincingly provide the same level of support for all of your staff, regardless of where they are physically located.
Even when your staff are all working from their own homes, we can set up the remote access software mentioned above, for each of your staff. There is no cost associated with this software, as we pay for the unlimited support license ourselves.
Once the software is installed we can log in and provide remote support for all devices as required.
Zero Contact Collection and Return Service
Whilst we can repair the majority of problems remotely, there are some cases where we need to see the device, or equally, where we need to carry out complex repairs, such as hardware replacement.
In these scenarios, we really need to have physical access to the device. In order to avoid any contact, and to keep our staff and client safety, we can arrange a zero contact collection and return service.
This typically involves us driving out to your offices, or direct to your home-worker locations, calling you on arrival and then collecting the device from your doorstep or a convenient location.
We can then take your device back to our workshop, carry out any necessary repairs and then return it to you in a similar manner.
The entire process can be carried out without any physical contact necessary and as with all of our business repairs, we will undertake this in as short a time as possible, to minimize the impact on your business.
Zero Contact On-Site Repairs & Installations
There are some situations where we still need to be physically present and on-site in order to solve a problem.
This may be required in order to repair a large device, such as a photocopier or server, that cannot be removed from the site.
It could also be required in order to perform a new installation of computer hardware.
In these cases, we decide on the best possible arrangement on a per-client basis. We will work closely with you in order to provide the required services with minimum impact to your business and also ensuring the safety of your staff.
In a typical scenario, this may involve us visiting your business out of hours, arranging for safe and secure entry into the building – for example being let in by a member of staff who will then come back later to lock up once we have finished.
Whilst working on site our engineers will be wearing gloves to avoid any physical skin contact with equipment on site. We will also disinfect any areas that we have touched following our visit. This ensures everyone’s safety and also gives you and your staff peace of mind that there is no risk of infection for either party when undertaking such work.
Collection and Return via Courier, for Long Distance Repairs
We are happy to travel throughout Perth, Kinross, Edinburgh, Glasgow and other surrounding areas in order to provide on-site support services as well as collection and return services when required.
However, in cases where we need to provide this type of support for clients who are further afield, we also offer a collection and return service via courier.
We use courier services provided by Parcel Monkey and DHL in order to have equipment collected and returned to clients. This will typically add between £20-£80+VAT to the cost of a repair, depending on the physical size of the equipment that needs to be couriered, as well as any other requirements such as insurance against loss and damages.
As well as couriering equipment too and from your business locations, we can also pre-configure equipment, including new computers and laptops, so that once it arrives with you it will only require connecting to power and Internet.
Once these connections are in place, your device will either have been configured so that it is fully ready to use or at this point, we will be able to remotely access the device in order to carry out any remaining setup steps that are required.
Setting Up Work From Home Environments
As well as providing remote IT support to our business customers via the above means, we can also provide help with setting up “work from home” environments.
This could involve setting a member of your team up to work remotely, connecting in to your existing systems. It could also involve planning and deploying a completely new setup to allow all of your company staff to work, and collaborate with each other, from independent locations such as their individual homes.
